Our story
We wanted products we’d bet our own bay on.
So we’re building the bay.
Powerhouse started with a frustration every detailer in Joburg knows. Imported products are priced for European wallets and formulated for soft water and grey skies. Cheap local products strip your wax, streak in the sun and leave the cabin smelling like a refinery.
So we blended our own, with a South African toll blender, and tested them the hard way — on cars. Shampoo that stays slick in hard water. A snow foam thick enough to actually lift Highveld dust. A spray sealant a normal person can apply in a carport in twenty minutes. An interior range that’s plant-based and non-toxic, because the back seat of most cars is a child’s seat or a dog’s bed.
The next step is the Powerhouse Car Wash in north-west Johannesburg: a hand-wash bay that uses nothing but what’s on our shelf. It keeps us honest. When hundreds of cars a month go through the same products you buy, every weakness shows up fast — and gets fixed.
Alongside it, Powerhouse Mobile takes the same chemistry to driveways, complexes, solar roofs and wheelie bins on suburb-by-suburb routes.
Proven before it’s sold
Every formula has to survive real cars in real conditions — Highveld UV, hard water, red dust, February storms — before it goes on the shelf.
One shelf, no secret stock
The products in our bay and on our mobile units are the products in this shop. There is no “professional only” version we keep for ourselves.
